What is xylitol?

What is xylitol?

Chemically, xylitol is a polyester alcohol. It was discovered by Nobel laureate Emil Fischer in 1900.

It is a natural substitute for sugar, which is synthesized in plants and in smaller quantities in the human body.

The first source of xylitol was birch, later other plants rich in xylan were used.

The positive effects of using xylitol gum:

  • increases saliva production (in dry mouth)
  • limits the formation of dental plaque
  • reduces bacteria that create acids and plaque
  • helps rebuild tooth enamel
  • reduces the transmission of "carious infection" from the pregnant mother to the fetus
  • provides long-term protection even in the event of temporary interruption of use
  • uses 100% xylitol as a sweetener (not sugar) and is suitable for diabetics

Who are xylitol products recommended for?
  • to everyone who wants to keep their teeth healthy, regardless of age
  • in mothers and children, as well as in pregnant women
  • in teething children (also effective for otitis media)
  • in school-age children, especially at the age of second teething or with orthodontic appliances
  • in patients with periodontitis
  • in patients suffering from dry mouth
  • in patients with bad breath
  • in diabetics

Shipping with ACS Courier

For orders that do not exceed 3kg of volumetric weight*, the shipping cost is €3.00 when the order is under €50. For orders over this amount, shipping is free!
For orders over 3kg of volumetric weight*, there is an additional charge of €2.30 per extra kilogram.
If the chosen payment method is cash on delivery, there is an additional fee of €2.50.

 

BOX NOW Shipments up to €150

Shipping costs are calculated as follows:

  • €5.80 for a medium locker (dimensions 17x45x62cm, up to 4kg)

  • €6.90 for a large locker (dimensions 35x45x62cm, up to 7kg)

For orders over €150, shipping is free.

    The parcel remains in the locker for 48 hours, with the possibility to extend for an additional 24 hours upon user request.

     

    Shipping to Cyprus and International Destinations

    Orders are shipped via DHL Courier. Shipping costs are calculated based on the destination zone and product weight. You will be notified via email of the final shipping cost.
    Prepayment via bank transfer or card is required for order shipment.

     

    In-store Pickup

    Orders marked as “Pickup from store” are available after confirmation, provided all products are in stock. You will receive an SMS notification when your order is ready.
    Pickup is available at our physical store in Mastampas, Heraklion:

    Smpokou 8 & Leftheraiou, Saridakis Pharmacy

    Opening hours:
    Monday - Friday: 08:00–21:00
    Saturday: 08:00–20:00

    The order must exceed €15 in value.

    Orders remain available at the pharmacy for up to 5 business days, after which they are automatically canceled.

    If any of the ordered products are not immediately available in our store, the waiting time may be up to 5 business days. You will be notified via email about product availability.
