MAGNESIUM PROPERTIES

Magnesium (like phosphorus and calcium) is essential for the support of bones and teeth, while, together with calcium, they regulate muscle activity: magnesium is a muscle relaxant, while calcium is a muscle stimulant. Magnesium is essential for the metabolism and synthesis of proteins, for the activation of a large number of enzymes and for the passage of sodium and potassium through cell membranes. Adequate levels of magnesium in the blood protect the cardiovascular system and prevent cardiac arrhythmias and possibly strokes. Taken as a supplement, magnesium can help with insomnia, premenstrual syndrome, cramps, as well as cardiovascular problems, such as hypertension or angina, due to coronary artery spasms.

According to prominent American cardiologists, magnesium also:

• It helps the heart push a larger volume of blood into the arteries, without the need for additional oxygen.
• It relaxes constricted blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more freely.
• It prevents platelets from sticking together, thus reducing the chances of clot formation and artery blockage.
• reduces bad (LDL) and increases good (HDL) cholesterol.

Magnesium supplements help type II diabetics (non-insulin dependent) to regulate their blood sugar more easily, allowing for a reduction in antidiabetic medications and, in some cases, their discontinuation (this should be done with the cooperation of the treating physician). In type I diabetics, magnesium is much less effective. Magnesium strengthens tooth enamel, while it is important for bone density and the treatment of osteoporosis. Without an adequate amount of magnesium, neither can a sufficient amount of calcium be retained in the bones, which, thus, become more fragile and prone to osteoporosis. Magnesium, on the other hand, keeps calcium in solution, preventing its deposition in the arteries and the formation of stones in the kidneys and bile. Magnesium, finally, helps improve sleep quality, while reducing the tendency of some people to grind their teeth during sleep.

OBSERVATIONS

A large number of people suffer from magnesium deficiency or are at risk of such a deficiency. These include people with gastrointestinal diseases (e.g. Crohn's disease), people with prolonged or intense stress, diabetics, alcoholics, as well as users of a significant number of medications, such as diuretics and antibiotics, especially contraceptives. This is also the reason why women who take the contraceptive pill have higher rates of thrombosis, since magnesium deficiency favors platelet adhesion and the formation of clots. Magnesium deficiency is one of the main reasons for many cardiovascular diseases, and in many cases also for other pathological conditions, such as depression, insomnia, asthma, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, premature birth, eclampsia. Because magnesium has antacid properties, it is best not to take it after meals, unless the acidity of gastric juices is increased. It should be noted that many antacid medications contain magnesium salts. According to the opinion of several experts, it is better to take magnesium together with calcium, in a ratio that is usually 1 to 2 (one part magnesium to two parts calcium).

CONTRAINDICATIONS - PRECAUTIONS

Magnesium is not toxic at normal doses (200-800mg). However, even very high doses are unlikely to cause toxicity, because excess magnesium is excreted through the kidneys or by causing diarrhea (some laxatives containing magnesium act in this way). Those suffering from kidney failure can easily become toxic from high doses of magnesium, especially if they are taken for a prolonged period of time.

For orders over €150, shipping is free.

The parcel remains in the locker for 48 hours, with the possibility to extend for an additional 24 hours upon user request.

Orders are shipped via DHL Courier. Shipping costs are calculated based on the destination zone and product weight. You will be notified via email of the final shipping cost.
Prepayment via bank transfer or card is required for order shipment.

Orders marked as “Pickup from store” are available after confirmation, provided all products are in stock. You will receive an SMS notification when your order is ready.
