Spirulina is a primordial multicellular microalgae that appeared on earth 3.5 billion years ago.

With its ability to photosynthesize, absorbing twice its biomass amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) and to bind atmospheric nitrogen (N). It has contributed to the formation of the modern Earth's atmosphere, enriching it with abundant oxygen. Biologically, it is characterized as a thermophilic organism (optimum 35c) and alkaliphilic (PH 9-11). Historically, the Spanish conquerors of Mexico, in the 16th century, observed the Aztecs collecting natural spirulina with fine nets from lakes and turning it into cakes, the main ingredient of their diet. Today, this process is systematically carried out in Lake Texcoco.

A similar process is applied in Chad, Africa, at Lake Kossoron, where spirulina is a main ingredient of the local populations, especially for pregnant women and in the local pharmacy. After World War II, German and French professors studied spirulina in detail. In 1967, spirulina was proclaimed as “the excellent food source of the future” by the International Union of Microbiologists.

More recently, NASA chose spirulina as the main source of nutrition for astronauts. Biochemical composition of Greek bio-spirulina: Spirulina contains about 100 substances and simple elements. Protein: From 60-70% by dry weight. It contains all the essential amino acids and ten of the non-essential ones, that is, it is a “complete” protein that is superior to the protein of milk, meat and eggs, with a solubility of 95%. Vitamins: Contains the vitamins: B-1 (thiamine), B-2 (riboflavin), B-3 (nicotinamide), B-6 (pyridoxine), B-9 (folic acid), B-12 (cyanocobalamin), vitamin C, vitamin D and vitamin E, biotin (H), folic acid, inositol and provitamin A. Fatty acids: It has a high content (30-60%) of polyunsaturated (PUFA), especially in Ω-series fatty acids, such as γ-linolenic (ALA, linoleic (LA), stearidonic (SDA), eicosapentaenoic (EPA), docosahexaenoic (DHA) and arachidonic acid (AA), Palmitic acid, Oleic acid Mineral elements: Contains Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Sodium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Copper, Selenium, Iron, Zinc. It does not contain iodine. Photosynthetic pigments: Chlorophyll, Phycocyanin, Carotenes, Xanthophyll, Canthaxanthin, β-Cryptoxanthin, Phycobiliproteins. Nucleic acids: Contains Ribonucleic acid (RNA) and Deoxyribonucleic acid DNA.

For orders that do not exceed 3kg of volumetric weight*, the shipping cost is €3.00 when the order is under €50. For orders over this amount, shipping is free!
For orders over 3kg of volumetric weight*, there is an additional charge of €2.30 per extra kilogram.
If the chosen payment method is cash on delivery, there is an additional fee of €2.50.

Shipping costs are calculated as follows:

• €5.80 for a medium locker (dimensions 17x45x62cm, up to 4kg)

• €6.90 for a large locker (dimensions 35x45x62cm, up to 7kg)

For orders over €150, shipping is free.

The parcel remains in the locker for 48 hours, with the possibility to extend for an additional 24 hours upon user request.

Orders are shipped via DHL Courier. Shipping costs are calculated based on the destination zone and product weight. You will be notified via email of the final shipping cost.
Prepayment via bank transfer or card is required for order shipment.

Orders marked as “Pickup from store” are available after confirmation, provided all products are in stock. You will receive an SMS notification when your order is ready.
